Europe’s digital maturity is rising — so why are the foundations crumbling?
The 2026 European Digital Maturity Index reveals what’s really driving digital growth — and what’s standing in the way, based on insights from 3,000 IT decision-makers across Europe.
While Europe’s overall score rose 6 points, one critical area moved in the opposite direction: content services maturity dropped 13 points to just 56 out of 100 — the only category to decline. As organizations rush to adopt AI, cloud and automation, they’re inadvertently creating more data silos. In fact, 54% of decision-makers say their information is too fragmented to use AI reliably — and 57% report that innovation initiatives stall at the pilot stage and never go live.
The organizations pulling ahead aren’t just investing in new tools. They’re replacing legacy infrastructure, connecting their content and building the data foundations that make innovation stick.
