## Hy-Tech Club

Hyland’s Hy-Tech Club is a free program for students in grades 7–12 to explore computer science in a fun and welcoming classroom environment. Students meet on Tuesday evenings to level up their coding skills and build fascinating projects under the tutelage of Hyland experts. Students of all levels are welcome, from total beginners to programming pros!

## Fall 2026 Hy-Tech Club

**WHO:** Students in grades 7–12

**WHAT:** A free program where students learn about coding and technology, with dinner provided each week!

**EXCITING NEWS!!** Hyland was recently approved by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce to be a Provider for the [**CS Promise Program**](https://go.hyland.com/MzEwLUlXSi05NjMAAAGj-9BUYSYo42gPA0qS6-nT_e4-YuZp3DmhoxFOZYuW5r7-_B2BR7EXH3MJImCtWRM-6M0pPGU=). This means students can earn school credit by taking Hy-Tech Club courses. We have been offering Hy-Tech Club since Fall 2014, and we are proud to provide even bigger value to students!

- Hyland's **Web 101** **and** **Web 102** Hy-Tech Club courses can fulfill the Website Development (Subject Code 290160) course under the CS Promise Program.
- Students must take both **Web 101** **and** **Web 102** to fulfill the requirement.
- Web 101 is offered this Fall and Web 102 will be offered in the Spring.

## Fall 2026 Course Offerings

**Web 101: Introduction to HTML and CSS**

This course covers the basics of web development, introducing static webpages and styles. By the end of the semester, students will be able to create their own webpages using the HTML language to build structure, and the CSS language to add style. Students taking Web 101 are required to attend the entire semester.

*IMPORTANT NOTE:* *Web 101 is one half of the* ***full-year Website Development course****. If a student would like to* ***earn high school credit*** *through* [*Ohio's CS Promise*](https://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Learning-in-Ohio/Computer-Science/CS-Promise) *program, they will have to complete Web 101 this Fall as well as Web 102 next Spring (or in the future). Students and parents should work with their school / district to apply the credit.*

**CS Sampler**

This course introduces a new computer science topic every week. Topics include Python Programming, A.I., Game Design, and more. Each lesson is introductory in nature, so the course is suitable for students of all levels. The goal is to expose students to the wide breadth of CS possibilities, and inspire them to continue learning. Since the curriculum is not cumulative, students are not required to attend the entire semester. Students are able to attend when their schedule allows, even after the semester has begun.

## Registration guidelines

Parents and guardians should fill out the registration on behalf of students under the age of 18 (or 19 in Alabama or Nebraska).\* Please be sure to answer questions accurately on behalf of the student. Correspondence with registrants will be coming from techoutreach@hyland.com. Please make sure to check your spam folders and add techoutreach@hyland.com to your address book to avoid any missed communication.

**Which course is best?**

We recommend new students take **Web 101**, unless they already have moderate experience with HTML & CSS. If they do, they can join returning students who are encouraged to take the **CS Sampler** course. CS Sampler may also be an option for students who cannot commit to a full semester but still want to participate when their schedule allows.
