How to Create Your Request For Proposal (RFP)

Create new applications based on documents and data with OnBase 11.0

Imagine this scenario. You’re sitting in a meeting with your company’s thought leaders. Everyone is brainstorming ways to make the business more efficient, and you stumble on a brilliant idea.

“What if we automated how we share information – to match work tasks with the experts that can best do them – and instantly moved that information around the organization (an admissions application, a claims file, reconciling and approving invoices)?” you say. “The company would save time and money by speeding up business processes and reducing risk associated with missing information, missed deadlines and much more.”

“Great,” the room responds. “How do we get started?”

If that sounds too good to be true, then you are obviously not familiar with OnBase. You most likely work with software applications that require dedicated IT staff. Staff that spend considerable amounts of time creating custom code and patched-on programs to run the processes. And heaven forbid that any of the IT people leave and any of the programs crash. With no support for complicated one-of-a-kind systems, you’re back to square one.

But not with OnBase. Making OnBase easy enough for business users to configure has been a key part of the OnBase development philosophy, and 11.0 carries on that tradition.

Furthermore, our update to Application Enabler allows the solution to produce a Workview object. Workview is a platform that allows the rapid deployment of customized data-driven and case management applications.

By means of Application Enabler, data and events can be captured directly from a line of business application and entered into Workview. Future enhancements will allow these Workview objects to be routed through a business process by means of workflow.

Create new applications based on documents and data with OnBase 11.0Strong foundation

OnBase goes beyond traditional ECM capabilities to be a foundational platform for application development. So if you need to create a unique application specific to your business process, you can do so in OnBase with confidence and ease.

All the code is written for you; all the “plumbing” is there. Simply configure the business process relationship and determine how your employees will interact with the application.

The best part? Just about anyone can do it.

“With OnBase 11.0, organizations have a new way to create and tailor forms without custom coding or requiring an HTML expert,” says Filion. “Additionally, the data contained in those forms can dynamically change the flow of a process. This will empower departments to point-and-click configure their powerful workflow processes without having to wait on, or be a burden to, their IT resources.”

Users can do this with OnBase’s Unity Forms, Hyland Software’s newest electronic forms product. It allows a non-technical business user to both design and configure electronic forms, even custom forms, from scratch with an easy drag-and-drop designer tool.

Again, no need for custom coding or HTML knowledge, even for multi-page (tabbed) forms, role-based security, repeating sections, data validation and keysets. It’s all right there at the user’s fingertips.

That’s the definition of extremely powerful and extremely easy.

Sound investment

And it’s a solid investment, too. One that enhances your other IT and workforce investments.

It doesn’t require a large outlay in training or in support staff, and many solutions are administered by the business users themselves, providing a quick return on investment. And the training required to operate OnBase 11.0 remains relevant for 12.0, 13.0 and so on.

Plus, by eliminating the need to build custom applications, you lower your total cost of ownership for those IT investments.

Hyland realizes organizations want to extend their IT investments as far as possible, and our growing connector technology addresses this need. It will allow businesses to make better business decisions faster, as well as provide updated information to users in real-time. In turn, this allows end users to make real-time decisions instead of waiting for the server to start up again.
