What’s New in OnBase 11.0 for Healthcare?

Excellent patient care is what it is all about. OnBase 11.0 provides an abundance of new features and functionality that will help healthcare organizations achieve that goal. They include an interface for Medical Records, new integrations with GE Centricity, Lawson S3 and Peoplesoft, as well as Report Capture for Meditech Magic.

New Features

In OnBase 11.0, the next-generation Medical Records Management (MRM) interface has arrived. Built on the same technology as the OnBase Unity Client, the Unity MRM Client provides a much richer and customizable user experience. Physicians and coders will love using this new interface to do chart searches, make chart corrections and access coding, among many other features.

OnBase 11.0's "digital camera through Citrix support for Epic Scan Control" feature helps physicians work more efficiently. Now doctors can directly upload photographs of a patient’s medical condition into OnBase. Photos are archived in OnBase and immediately accessible directly from the Epic interface.

New Integrations

Healthcare organizations derive maximum value from their ECM software solution when it is able to easily communicate with the other systems it uses.

OnBase 11.0 provides connector technology with GE’s Centricity electronic medical record, providing quick access to documents stored in OnBase through Centricity. Connector technology seamlessly integrates with the EMR, so much so that end users will never realize they’re in OnBase rather than Centricity.

New integration technology for Lawson S3 will allow end users to retrieve documents from any Lawson screen via a button. The button uses the Lawson API to integrate OnBase with the ACC puzzle-piece mapping interfaces. S3 is Lawson’s financial management software solution. This will also allow the posting of invoice data automatically to MA540 and AP520.  In fact, this integration allows OnBase to interact with any data stored in Lawson.

PeopleSoft is frequently used in the back office operations of Healthcare and OnBase 11.0 introduces an integration for Peoplesoft which will add tremendous value in these areas. This integration will allow users not only to access documents stored in OnBase directly from the Peoplesoft interface but also perform automated worklisting tasks with side-by-side access to those documents. OnBase also has the ability to interact with PeopleSoft at the API level without custom programming by interacting with the Integration Broker and the component interfaces. OnBase also connects to all data stored within PeopleSoft via a point and click configuration screen. This allows documents stored in OnBase to be seamlessly available anywhere within the business process.

And OnBase 11.0 provides communication between the Physician Portal and the OLIS repository allowing a physician to query and view lab reports that exist within the OLIS system. Those queries and lab reports display within the Physician Portal along with all other encounter and patient information. OLIS is a Canadian initiative providing a province-wide central repository for all patient lab results across all providers within a province.

Meditech Advances

If your organization uses the Meditech product, consider giving some of the new Meditech integration features in OnBase 11.0 a spin.

Many of our enhancements come via requests from real OnBase users, and OnBase 11.0’s new Report Capture for Meditech Magic is no different. OnBase for Meditech users told us they needed a way to send a set of Meditech reports for one or more patient visits into OnBase, and wanted to augment archiving capabilities for Meditech Magic non-ODA. Our solution satisfies both, with formatted reports showing up in OnBase as text documents.

Our new Meditech PCI Link to OnBase MRM launches OnBase content directly from Meditech. This includes the ability to view charts and all documents related to a medical record number, all while working within the Meditech EMR.

Other Meditech enhancements include External Deficiency Polling for Meditech Deficiencies, which signals OnBase when Meditech is handling certain deficiencies. Once resolved in Meditech, they disappear from OnBase.

With more than 1,800 enhancements, 4,400 software changes and input from many of our 10,000 lifetime customers, OnBase 11.0 is ready to help your organization become more efficient than ever before.
