Makes company one of the largest enterprise content management (ECM) software suite vendors in the higher education market
CLEVELAND – Sept. 1, 2010 – Hyland Software has purchased privately held Hershey Systems, USA, a provider of Web-based ECM solutions focused primarily on the higher education market. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Acquisitions continue to accelerate our growth in key markets,” said A.J. Hyland, president and CEO of Hyland Software. “In the past year, purchasing eWebHealth and Valco Data Systems added to our momentum in healthcare. Today, it’s our largest vertical market. But there is also tremendous opportunity in higher education. Hershey is a respected and established company with a proven product. Joining with our team creates a company with an unmatched level of industry expertise. It also makes Hyland one of the largest ECM vendors in the higher education marketplace.”
Hershey Systems’ flagship product, Singularity, is a Web-based ECM software suite. It streamlines previously manual, mostly paper and traditionally slow business processes. This allows institutions to focus on recruitment, retention and student satisfaction while lowering operational costs. The company has nearly 200 higher education customers nationwide. Though mainly focused on higher education, Hershey Systems has a sizeable presence in other industries. For example, the company counts approximately 140 courts as customers, as well as another 100 in the commercial space.
“We’re dedicated to helping our customers meet their goals and be more successful,” said Hyland. “No matter the industry or the problem, we are committed to helping. Our product enhancements and new releases are driven by feedback from our customers. The result is that no other ECM vendor matches our pace of innovation. This benefits customers in the form of original products that solve their real world operational problems.
“It’s part of the reason why more than 98 percent of organizations choose to renew their maintenance agreements with us. And it’s also why most customers over our 20-year history are still loyal to us. From development to service to training, our relationship with our customers is a partnership, and we take it very seriously.”
